Urban slang - her name means 'the type who can win anyone's heart with just a smile'.

On assessment for one month and then will be available for adoption in March 2020
Early days here on a steep learning curve as she learns to live with other dogs and a cat, some of which are less than enamoured at her being here ... but she picks things up very quickly.
Barks for attention, and is used to getting her own way - lol
There is some small amount of sight, especially lights.
Loves toys and constantly brings them to play, but kills soft ones.

March 2020 - New Adventures
After spending a month her being assessed and undergoing some intensive training, today saw Rosey heading off to her new family. She has come on so well, knows loads of commands and has even mastered the art of recall. Turns out she is a right water baby and loved the beach, not to mention the hose-pipe. |
At her new home.
She is to be an only dog and will undoubtedly be spoilt rotten … as is her right :)

Olly ... Beginning of April 2014
Profile: 17mths old has lived with other dogs and cats
He is a beautiful looking boy with a personality to match with people but had a huge issue with the cats. He did not just chase with the exuberance of youth to play he wanted to kill.
As a result he was quickly moved to another foster home with no small furries - lol

Skye B ... End of April 2014
Profile: 8 years old, has lived with children of all ages and cats. Being re-homed due to owners ill health.
Very over-weight and badly in need of grooming when she arrived.
No problems with the cats, but it was obvious that she had always been an only dog and so needed to learn how to be part of a pack. She was also used to getting her own way and using her weight to make sure she did.
Big learning curve for her ... first thing next day she went to the groomers and although not best impressed by the experience she is a whole lot letter for it. Update: June 2014: The weight loss is continuing, she can now jump up to have a look on the worktop (counter-surfer Ali-Katz is teaching her that one - lol) All assessments done and she is up for adoption.
July 2014 ... Skye off to her new fur-ever home with people she clearly already adores.

This is 'Tales' (as in the next tale in the Misfits story)
Okay ... I know we said Maize was our last pup and we really did mean it but, just how could I honestly say 'no' to this plea from a rescue ...
"Do we have anyone in Scotland that can foster a blind border collie pup whose Mum has bitten him through his face?"
It is supposed that she had tried to kill him when he was tiny (maybe she suspected that he was not right) and so he was bottle-fed. His wounds have left scars each side of his nose.
Arrived here 21 Dec 2017

New Year ... new start for Tails.
We thought that as he came to us so young that Kashi would settle with another boy in the house but it wasn't to be. So, he has gone to the mum of some very special friends who have two of our foster pups, Milo and Izzy (both deaf with vision problems). Judging by the photo updates Tails (now Doug) has landed on his paws. Already hard at work with the domestic chores (loves climbing in the dish washer) and keeping the older collie on her toes. |
I was contacted by this rescue for advice on a 3yr old rough collie that had been born deaf and had vision problems.
He was in a foster home that didn’t fully take into consideration his disabilities.
A military operation was undertaken by some very special people to get him from Nottingham to Scotland. He arrived on my birthday (28 Sept 2014).

Blue ...
Blue has gone from strength to strength with his new family and subsequently it was my privilege to supply a home-check and recommendation in regards to a very special little double-merle pup that they'd offered to adopt.
So on the Saturday before Christmas 2014 little STAR, as she is now called joined a great family. |
RIP ... Beautiful BLUE
April 2024
It was almost 10yrs ago that he first landed at our door, but as an old boy he found his way back because life was not playing fair to a mum who so loved him.
We kind of expected that it would be an end-of-life foster.
