CATS
As a child I cannot remember a time in my life when I haven't shared it with at least one cat and that didn't change once I left home.
Toffee-Puss (or Spitfire as she has been nicknamed)
All grown-up
She is a feisty, stand-offish little madam that does everything on her terms and well and truly lets you know what she thinks when she can't get her own way. The loss of Harvey, followed so quickly by Finn going as well rocked her world for a bit, but she settled to ruling the roost eventually. She has never been one for cuddles (unless she demands them) but loves a little light conversation. The best place to catch her soft side is when she is on the bed. |
Bertie (Bat-Cat)
DOB - 05.07.2020 (Arrived 30.08.2020)
After the loss of Harvey at the end of 2019 and Finn in January 2020 there was a moggie-size gap in the gang which needed to be filled.
December 2020 - Growing-up way too fast

Update ... Not too sure how he managed to stay alive long enough to grow-up but here he is. Stunningly beautiful and knows it. Very much his own cat, interacting only n his terms. He quite likes a fuss but beware the sharp bits, especially if he's on his back looking cute ... Do Not Touch or you will regret it - lol |
Pharos (RIP)
A rescue cat that went to a friend but just wouldn't settle. (2007)
So he only moved in on a temporary basis
BUT ... after moving to Scotland he took up residency with someone else who loves him, but still visited on a regular basis.
Sadly he's no longer around :(

Rainbow Bridge …
Finlay (RIP: June 2011 - Jan 2020)
Finn came to join out group in August 2010
Needless to say for this house he is deaf.
He also has one eye blue and one brown.
Finlay means 'White Warrior' in Scottish
and he certainly lives up to that title :)
Missing since 23 August 2013
Whilst we were away on holiday our pet-sitter informed us that Finn was missing. There were a couple of sightings of a white cat but when we arrived home two weeks later there had been no more. Everyone that has anything to do with cats has been informed and we've put posters up in the area.
Friday 13 September 2013 ... Finn is now home :)
Found miles away but came straight to my arms when he saw me.
RIP beautiful boy.
20 January 2020
Finn was knocked down and killed on the road outside the house.
Harvey (RIP November 2019)
Joined the Misfits Gang in September 2013
His name means 'battle worthy' and it was the name of a 6th-century hermit who was the patron saint of the blind
He was in a terrible state when he was rescued by HPNE.
Took him to see our vets and he had a local anaesthetic so they could have a good look in his left eye. It is a birth defect (under-developed) and therefore he is blind on that side but as it is not bothering him we are going to leave well alone and only remove if it is necessary He also has an infection in both eyes which the vets think is due to having cat flu when he was younger which was not treated properly. This is likely to be reoccurring for the rest of his life for which he will need antibiotics.
Treacle (RIP 2014)
The runt of a foster litter born at ours. She was deformed and not expected to live. (April 2008)
Vet agreed that as long as she was not in pain and was fending for herself to let things be and wait for nature to take over.
No one told Treacle any of this so she just got on with life and is still with us.
Her back legs are fused straight and she hops about like a little bunny. She loves to climb and her idea of getting down is to just let go!
Sad Update: 5 September 2014
RIP our sweet, independent little madam :(
It was always only a matter of time before the the nerves in her back legs and spine started to fail, we knew that but it still doesn't make losing her any easier.

Boo (Spiddie) RIP 2012
RIP - February 2012 (aged 20+)
Boo was the old man of the gang.
Named 'Spiddie' but as I called him 'Beautiful' most of the time (and as he is the original scardy-cat) it got shortened to 'Boo'.
Temporary Guests ...
Molly and Kits
April 2008 a neighbour asks us to take a wild cat that was having kittens in her caravan
So Molly (as we named her) became a house-guest in tow with two little kittens.and during the night she gave birth to another but it was deformed and was not expected to survive.
Molly went to someone from our vets and the two other kittens were re-homed through Lurcher Link dog rescue forum. The little deformed one stayed with us and as long as she is not in pain that's where she will remain. 'Treacle' therefore became another member of the misfits gang. (see above)

Charlie (RIP 2013)
I found him as a 7 week old kitten in a skip along with his litter tray and cat box outside an empty house as I was rushing out one morning. (July 2009)
Called hubbie to collect him with the promise I would sort him out when I got back and find him a new home. But hubbie fell for him, cleaned him up, fed him and settled him on the bed.
I got home to a note saying, 'Charlie is staying!'
It turned out that this little kitten had been almost blind from birth and there was nothing that could be done to give him better sight. He decided to take up residence with one of our neighbours, who love him to bits ... so it seems I was only in his life to save him so he could find his proper own forever home.
Sad Update
Charlie was run-over and killed in June 2013 - RIP little man :(
Buttons 2006 (RIP Feb 2019)
He was born at my son's house and worried that he would end up as a Christmas present he came to us.
Buttons fell out big time with Pharos and took himself off to live with Charlie and his new people. They absolutely loved him so when we re-located to Scotland we agreed that he stayed.
