Soli ... Merle Shelti born with hearing and vision issues
I was tagged into a post on Facebook (08.02.2016)
Just seen these Shelties advertised. Both parents merle (accidental apparently)
It's not worth doubling, although some breeders often do it to get more merles in the litter. But you don't just get more merles, you also get doubles often in the same ratio of normal merle in the litter. The white one had possible vision and hearing problems.
My problem was that the pup was in Southampton, 450 miles away but I posted a plea for help on my facebook page anyway ...
Little white pup from a merle-merle bred litter ... can anyone help get him up to me in Scotland or from Southampton to Oxfordshire?
Instant reply, offering to collect and deliver to a friend in Oxfordshire, so on the 10 Feb it was all sorted within hours. I contacted the breeder and transport was arranged. On the 21 Feb he would be on his way to his Aunty Bev for a couple of weeks before I went to collect and bring him home to Scotland.

What's in a name?
After an evening spent trawling websites for names and/or words for in different languages we finally decided on Solasta-sol ... Soli for short.
This means Shining Light in Gaelic.
So now we have two names that mean Shining light . Kashi is Indian and Soli is Scottish ... I can see a trend starting here ;-)

Saturday 05.03.2016 ... Today's the day!
Traveled down to meet my little boy. He was so cute, much more than his photos could ever portray. To say I was instantly (more) in love is to put it mildly. Spend 5 days getting to know him and catching-up with my friends then, once his 2nd jab was done I brought him home.

October 2016
Soli had a series of mini fits and spinning around and round in circles. This behaviour can be quite typical when a dog has a mild fit, and we had always known it could happen (he was a double merle and quite possibly inbred through a couple of generations judging by the other photos of grandparents) but we were stunned that the problems had started in him at such an early age. We gave him space, continually talked to him and watched. He didn’t recover as we would have expected.
The vets did comprehensive tests and concluded that he had also had a stroke.
As with any stroke the first 72hrs was critical and we had to face the real possibility that we would lose him. Thankfully this was not to be. Gradually he started to remember. Little things at first like who we were, who the gang were and where he was. It took a lot of intensive interaction but eventually after a couple of weeks he started to bounce back almost to his old self.

Soli is besotted with his new friend ... Toffee-Puss (or Spitfire, as she is currently nicknamed)
He used to play with Flo our ferret but she was getting-on and finally lost her grip on life a few months back and he really missed her ... so we got him his very own kitten.

SAD Update ... 3 Nov 2016
Soli collapsed suddenly, so we rushed him straight to the vets. Xrays showed that the congenital defect in his heart and lungs had deteriorated rapidly when an unknown weakness in his intestines unexpectedly ruptured. All these issues are a direct result of being a double merle bred pup. (click here for more info.)
The Misfits house seems so empty now, so quiet, and we are all so lost ... Fly High in the Summerlands my little-one knowing just how much you were loved.
