Laddie rehomed Sept 2012
Collie x GSD - approx 9 yrs old
He was discovered in a house by the side of his elderly owner who had passed away. As you can imagine having been a much loved pet for most of his life this was a very sad place for him to be in.
He found a new home with a family but through no fault of his own things changed and he found himself back in the care of WYDR.
When he arrived he was totally confused and looked so very sad.
Although he was used to being an only dog he was so laid-back that he settled with the Misfit Gang with no problems and was gradually learning the skills required (sharing was an issue at first)
I arranged to take him to the vets as he had two lumps on his tummy just before his back legs. There was no way of knowing what these were but as they were causing him no pain we decided not to put him through an operation and to just see how things developed. We had already decided that if he didn’t find a new home by the time we moved to Scotland at the end of the year that we were going to just take him with us. He was the softest of creatures with a beautiful calm personality and he so deserved a happy ending.
He was advertised on the website and had lots of enquiries but the possibility of vet’s bills was often an issue until we got a potential owners profile form from a vet. I emailed her all about the lumps, bumps, bad teeth and that he’d not been neutered and she still wanted to meet him.
I did all the new home checks so she was able to take him straight away if it all worked out.
He left for his new home on 12 September 2012
Update the following morning reported not only that he’d settled in really well, was a perfect travelling (he just went to sleep curled up on the floor) but he now has a new name.
‘Eddie’ and his new mum.

Sad Update - RIP January 2014
Email from Helen
Sadly had to put old Eddie to sleep on Monday. He developed lung cancer in the autumn, and though he was well for a while, it then progressed to diabetes insipidus and his life became nothing but drinking and weeing, his hips were wearing out and he couldn't walk far, lost lots of weight and would only eat gravy bones for the last month. I let him go while he was still wagging his tail and holding his tennis ball, even if he couldn't chase it anymore. Can't believe how upsetting it was even though I only had him 18months, he was such a lovely nice boy.
