We were not ones for going out very much, so staying in was not a problem. The only impact the lockdown really had was when the libraries all closed, and the creative writing group was suspended. I have set up a social media group, but it is not the same as the face-to-face banter we had all come to enjoy.
To begin with it was to be for just three weeks with a review after Easter. That was manageable but then the timescale was extended and there were talks about it going on for a much longer time, with the prospects of the country and indeed the world having to face the fact that even when the restrictions started to be lifted, life as we knew it would never be the same.
A spell of warm weather in April has seen us out in the garden a lot more and as such the Misfits have enjoyed lazing about and alfresco dining. Walks are more structure as we try to time it right to miss the hoards of people that have decided the best place to take their daily exercise is the beach. The fact that the council have closed all carparks to restrict this has resulted in more cars outside the houses, which rather defeats the aim of social distancing and reduced contact, as people are inadvertently now coming out of their way to be nearer to us.
So, we live in troubled times at the moment and as to what will happen in the future … who knows.
